When being in the room is worth it
We work remotely and say so plainly. Face to face collaboration does buy something real, so here is what it buys, when it matters, and what we do instead.

We work remotely, for founders in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. That is a genuine limitation and it is worth being specific about rather than talking around, because working face to face does buy something. The useful question is what exactly it buys, at which moments, and whether those moments should decide who you hire.
What a room actually gives you
Speed of correction, mostly. In person somebody turns a screen round, you say no, not that one, and four days of work never happen. Those thirty seconds are most of what a room is worth. The rest is the read: whether a founder is tired of an idea they are still defending out of politeness, whether two people at the table disagree and only one of them is saying it.
The three moments it matters most
In an identity project the room earns its cost at three points. The session where positioning is settled, because that is where disagreement is most useful and least likely to appear in writing. The first time a system is shown, because what somebody thinks in the first ten seconds is more honest than what they write an hour later. And handover, because a person has to be shown where things are rather than sent a link to them.
What we do at each of those instead
Positioning is one live working session with whoever settles arguments about price, planned around the disagreement rather than hoping it stays away. The system is argued in writing before anything is drawn, so the expensive decisions are visible while they are still cheap to change. Handover is a walkthrough with the person who will own it afterwards, rather than a folder and good luck.
What that does not fix
It does not fix the hallway. Arguing in writing catches a wrong decision earlier than a presentation would, and it still never catches one as fast as a person raising an eyebrow. Across a three week project that is a real tax. It is paid in slower correction rather than in worse work, which is the trade we would rather make, though it is a trade.
When you should hire somebody you can sit with
If your decisions genuinely get made in rooms, hire locally. If two founders need a table and a whiteboard before they can agree on what the company sells, hire locally. Our registered address is 1209 Mountain Road Pl NE Ste R, Albuquerque, NM 87110, and the work itself is done remotely. If you would rather sit across a table, that is a fair reason to choose someone else, and we would far rather you did that than find it out in week two.
