Cookies
By default no cookies are set: Google Analytics loads in consent mode, anonymous and cookieless, until you allow it. Here is exactly what it does, and how to change your answer.

No cookies until you allow analytics
By default, no cookies are placed on your device. Google Analytics loads on every page, but in consent mode it sets no cookies and does not identify you until you allow it. Allow it, and Google Analytics sets its cookies, and only then.
You will have seen a notice asking about analytics. Until you answer, analytics runs anonymous and cookieless; allow it and it measures your visit fully. Your answer is stored in your browser, covered below.
And nothing else either
Cookies are only one of the ways a website follows people around. The others are absent too:
- Analytics in consent mode. Google Analytics 4 loads on every page, but stays anonymous and cookieless until you accept the notice. Accept and it sets cookies and measures your visit; decline and it never sets a cookie or identifies you.
- No advertising pixels. Nothing from Meta, Google, TikTok or LinkedIn runs here, so visiting this site cannot be used to retarget you elsewhere.
- Your choice, in browser storage. Your answer is kept under
oovert.analytics-consent, and the timed prompt records the date it appeared underoovert.cta. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics also sets its_gacookies. No analytics cookie is set before you allow it. - Google, on every page; cookies only if you allow. Your browser loads Google Analytics from Google on every page, in consent mode. The typefaces, video and everything else come only from our own domain, and there are no maps, chat widgets or social buttons. Google Analytics sets cookies and identifies your visit only after you allow it.
Do not take our word for it
This is a claim you can check in about twenty seconds, and you should be able to check any claim like it:
- Open your browser developer tools, usually with F12.
- Go to the Application tab in Chrome or Edge, or Storage in Firefox and Safari.
- Look under Cookies and under Local Storage for this domain.
- Then open the Network tab and reload. Every request listed should be to our own domain.
If you find something there that this page does not mention, we have made a mistake and we want to know. Email support@oovert.com and we will either remove it or document it here.
Your answer, and changing it
Withdrawing permission has to be as easy as giving it, so the same two buttons that were on the notice are here, permanently, with no dark pattern between you and the one you want.
Your browser is blocking site storage, so there is nothing for us to record and no analytics can run. That is the strictest setting, and it needs nothing from you.
Nothing is measured today either way. This records what you would prefer for when there is something to measure.
Clearing your browser data for this site also clears the answer, and the notice will ask again on your next visit.
What is recorded instead
Something has to happen for a page to reach you. Our hosting provider logs ordinary web server information for each request: the IP address it came from, the page requested, and the time. Every web server does this, it is required to serve the site and to keep it available, and it happens before any cookie question arises.
Those logs are not joined to anything else, are not used to build a profile of you, and rotate away after a short operational period. The privacy page covers them in full, along with the one form on this site that does collect something.
What would change this
We run Google Analytics in consent mode: it loads on every page but sets nothing and stays anonymous until you allow it. If that ever changes, this page changes with it first.
If that happens, all of the following will be true before it ships:
- This page will say so, plainly, and name the tool.
- We will prefer a measurement approach that sets no cookie and collects no personal data.
- Nothing will be switched on before you have answered the notice, refusing will stay exactly as easy as accepting, and the site will work identically either way.
We will not quietly add a tracker and update this page afterwards.
Controlling cookies generally
There is nothing here for you to manage, but for other sites, every major browser lets you view and delete cookies and block them by default, usually under privacy settings. Blocking cookies entirely will break a great many websites. It will not break this one, which you are welcome to treat as a small demonstration of the point OOVERT is making.
