Remote identity work, without the sales pitch

Hiring a studio that is not down the road

We work with founders in three countries from one desk. Here is what that costs you, what it does not, and when you should insist on somebody local instead.

Most identity work is now bought from somebody the buyer will never meet. That is worth being honest about rather than glossing, because it does cost you something real, and the studios that pretend otherwise are the ones you find out about later.

What you actually lose

You lose the hallway. The thirty seconds where somebody turns a laptop round and you say no, not that one, before it becomes a week of work. Over a project that is a genuine tax, and it is paid in slower correction rather than worse output. You also lose the read of a room: whether the founder is tired of an idea, whether two people at the table disagree and only one is saying so.

What you do not lose

Craft does not depend on geography and has not for a long time. Neither does accountability, provided it is written down. A fixed scope, a published price and a named person are worth more than an office you visited once, because you can hold all three to account after the enthusiasm of the first meeting has worn off.

How we make up the difference

Everything is argued in writing before it is drawn, so a decision you disagree with is visible while it is still cheap. The same person is on every call. The scope says what is included and what is not, and when something falls outside it we say so before the work rather than on the invoice. None of that is a substitute for the hallway. It is the closest thing that survives distance.

When you should hire somebody local instead

When the work is physical and has to be measured, walked or photographed in place. When your team needs to be in the room to reach agreement, which some teams genuinely do. When your buyers are local enough that the copy has to be written by somebody who lives among them. In those cases the right answer is a studio in your city, and we will say so on the first call rather than take the project.

Where we are

Our registered address is 1209 Mountain Road Pl NE Ste R, Albuquerque, NM 87110. The work is done remotely, for founders in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. If you would rather sit across a table, that is a fair reason to hire somebody else, and we would rather you did than find out four weeks in.
